Jenkins VFW hosting Motorcycle Run

To help Disabled Veteran Deer and Turkey Hunts at Camp Ripley

Recently I caught up with Randy "Tex" Stafford from the Jenkins VFW Post 3839 to talk about the Motorcycle run they organize to support the Disabled Veteran Deer and Turkey Hunts at Camp Ripley.

The Disabled Veteran Deer and Turkey Hunts are hosted by many of the Veteran organizations in the state of Minnesota to include the VFW, DAV, American Legion, Military order of the Purple Heart, Paralyzed Veterans of America and Minnesota Veterans 4 Veterans. Application period for the Turkey Hunt are already closed, and the Deer Hunting applications will be taken later this year.

This is the 3rd Annual Motorcycle run to help disabled Veteran deer and Turkey Hunts. This Motorcycle run was first organized by Tex, Jim Hesselgrave, and Dennis Earie. Tex who will be the ride captain and safety coordinator states that with the relationship they have built with the police along the route there will be no need for stopping as the police will be closing down intersections as the Motorcycle run progresses from Jenkins to Camp Ripley. The VFW has a formal VFW riders program however Tex wanted to make sure everyone knows "This is for anyone who wants to participate to help disabled Veterans" which is a great way for everyone to get together to support a great program.

For those that know Tex, knows his passion for his fellow Veterans.
