It is June, and for the Department of Minnesota VFW this means Convention time. Leading off convention is Officer Training Instruction. OTI is an important opportunity for new Post and District officers to get the training that they need so not only can they run their Posts, but they can also serve the Veterans and their families living in their communities.
In this day and age of technology, and social media, it is important for these highly motivated leaders to ensure they have the knowledge to stay on top of everything they have to handle while being an officer at their Post.
OTI gives them that training and resources to ensure that they are leading their members, and serving their community the best that they can. OTI also gives them the chance to network with other Post commanders from all over the State of Minnesota to talk about what is working and what is not working. How to best assist Veterans dealing with issues of homelessness or unemployment.
They will learn about what resources and programs the VFW offers that they can tap into, and what resources exist out side of the VFW that can assist them in assisting Veterans. OTI is a vital program that ensures the leaders with in our organization are prepared for their time as officers.
